BIS Australian/Am Ch Innisfree’s Don’t Fence Me In (imp USA)
‘Cowboy’

Bred by : Cheryl LeCourt Colour : Black & White
Owned by : Kathleen Kanzler Sex : Dog
Handled by : Simon Briggs Date of Birth : 26 November 1990

This was the dog who stopped me cold when I first saw him at the Kanzlers in upstate NY. Groomed and fluffed and looking a million bucks, it was all I could do to not tuck him into the car and take him then and there. This was the dog I had dreamed about. The dog that had substance and power when I had been limited to seeing a racier style of dog in Australia until then. This was a dog who could work and show - this was a dog who fit the standard and could keep on going like an Eveready battery.

Cowboy has gone to God now - buried at Champagne Park, our boarding kennels where he spent such happy times lazing in the grass under the eucalypts and where we felt he was happiest. His place lies next to “Gabbie” (Can/Aust Ch Tundrafoot’s Justa Gabbie Girl) our old Canadian girl and whom he loved to bits. Another multiple Best in Show winning dog for us, Cowboy changed the face of the Siberians as we knew them. His progeny have done so well for us and for his memory. At last count, he had produced 21 champions from 23 puppies and 8 Grand Champions included in that. He was bred but 5 times here in Australia.

Cowboy liked to rest his head on your shoulder when you sat with him. That lovely big face with that wise knowing expression that said I know where my bread is buttered and I just am here for you. Well Cowboy, we were there for you too and the time we had together was like a door opening for us to the wider world of Siberians. You brought Siberian royalty to our kennels. You brought beautiful temperaments to your children. You brought substance and power and wonderful genetic traits to our kids today. You were a true milestone and perhaps the starting block for us to really appreciate how good and wonderful a Siberian could be. Thank you old fellow. I still see glimpses of you running in my side yard - always be there!
