It took a long time for us all to be able to speak of Wyatt without tears in our eyes. Wyatt sadly passed on during 2005 due to cancer.
Wyatt was one of our very first regularly Best in Show. winning Siberians. He retired on 38 x Best in Show and became Grand Champion prior to 3 years of age which was a record at the time for a Siberian.
Wyatt won Best in Show at the prestigious Lilydale and Sunbury Shows in Victoria with Tonya Syme handling. They did form a wonderful team and had a great relationship.
Wyatt was a sweet dog starting out his show career initially with a couple of locals who handed him back not wanting to wait the time perhaps that a Siberian needs to mature. We understood that and yet, 6 weeks later once we trained him differently and lost some weight off his frame, managed his first Best in Show at 16 months of age and the start of all that was to come.
Wyatt has produced so well. His true to form progeny was so good with the mating to Tiara (Australian Ch Suthanlites T Ara) we repeated this litter producing notably from the first litter “Maverick” (Am/Aust/Ind Ch Suthanlites Lawbreaker) “Mannix” (Ch Suthanlites Lawman) and “Marshall” (Ch Suthanlites Law Enforcer) all three boys being B.I.S. winners and Maverick reaching # 6 Siberian status his first year in the U.S. and leaving just after winning Best in Show there to go to India, his new home, winning Best in Show at his very first show there.
Wyatt was also a therapy dog, visiting the elderly and spreading joy and delight wherever he went. He was much loved by James and Tahlia Syme who tearfully reminded me that Wyatt was to come back to them when we borrowed him for a couple of shows in Adelaide one year.
Gentle as all get out and a chip off his old sire “Cowboy” (Am/Aust Ch Innisfree’s Don’t Fence Me In), Wyatt was a good moderate dog reaching 55.1 cms and 22.8 kgs. The standard calls for 53.5 to 60 cms and 20 - 27 kgs. If breeding is to better the breed, then Wyatt personified all that we aim for as breeders - each is a stepping stone and he was part of that wonderful journey.
